Magnetic Skies by Ioannis Michalou(di)s are unique and beautiful visual creations born from the unusual properties of silica aerogel. Each Magnetic Sky consists of pure silica aerogel embedded with metal filings, frozen forever along the magnetic field lines present during the artwork’s creation, in a unique form which can never be repeated. The aerogel is contained within a slumped champagne flute, and provided with a wooden display frame that can be mounted on the wall or placed on a desk. The technical craftsmanship that goes into creating each artwork is truly unparalleled.  Magnetic Skies are blue in front of a black background, virtually invisible in front of a white background, and cast a shadow with a golden hue reminiscent of the sun’s rays.
